MoneyGyesan is a set of free calculators for Korea's financial system - net salary, loan interest, severance pay, VAT and savings interest.
All calculations run in your browser, and we present them transparently with official agency rates and formulas.
What is MoneyGyesan
MoneyGyesan is a set of free tools that help employees, the self-employed and aspiring founders handle the everyday financial calculations of Korea's system quickly and accurately. It presents the complex social insurances, taxes, loan repayment structures and average-wage rules with their formulas so anyone can understand them.
Our principles (E-E-A-T)
- Experience — We mirror the item structure used on real payslips, loan agreements and tax invoices, breaking results down item by item.
- Expertise — We compute using official rates and formulas: National Pension 4.5%, Health Insurance 3.545%, Long-term Care 12.95%, Employment Insurance 0.9%, interest income tax 15.4%, VAT 10% and more.
- Authoritativeness — We provide the standards and source links of official bodies such as the National Tax Service, the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the National Pension Service.
- Trustworthiness — We do not hide the formulas and clearly flag items that are estimates. Your inputs are not collected or stored.
Data sources
The rates and standards used in each calculator are based on the following official sources. Rates may change yearly and we update to the latest values when they do.
- National Tax Service (Hometax) — simplified wage income tax table, VAT
- National Pension Service — National Pension rate, standard monthly income cap/floor
- National Health Insurance Service — health and long-term care insurance rates
- Ministry of Employment and Labor — severance pay, average wage, employment insurance
A note on accuracy
All MoneyGyesan results are reference estimates based on your inputs and published formulas. In particular, the income tax in the net salary calculator is an approximation of the simplified withholding tax, and severance pay is a pre-tax estimate. Actual amounts can vary with dependents, number of children, non-taxable items and company rules, so confirm final decisions with an official body or a professional.
